Competing in the 65kg division, Shamiya beat Laurentian’s Alex Aubin for the gold medal. Teammate and Marauder freshman, Nathaniel Strugnell (Brantford), placed fourth in the same weight class, losing to Junior Aljoe from the Toronto-area’s Team Impact in the bronze medal match.

The third Mac wrestler competing in the meet at Ajax was Erica D’Angelo (Maple), who lost to Brock’s Diana Ford in the women’s 55kg class to take the silver medal.

The Marauders wrestling teams will compete in two events this coming weekend, with the women going to London’s Western University for the Harry Geris Memorial Duals. The men will head to the University of Toronto Invitational.
