MARSEILLE, France — Canadian gymnasts closed out the final day of competition at the Massilia women’s international competition on Sunday (Nov. 18) with medals of every colour, winning gold, silver and bronze in different events.
Gabriella Douglas, competing for the Futures Gymnastics Centre in Mississauga, topped the field in the beam final with a score of 13.850 points.
Fransolet Berangere of Belgium was second with a score of 13.500 and Victoria Kozmina of Russia was third at 13.425.
In the floor final, national junior team member Heaven Latimer of Burford, won the silver medal, adding to her growing international medal collection. Last weekend at a junior meet in Combs-la-Ville, France, Latimer was the top Canadian, winning four medals, including gold on floor.
Victoria Moors of Cambridge, a key member of Canada’s 2012 Olympic team, placed fifth in the combined junior-senior competition with a new routine.
In the vault final, Sabrina Gill, also competing for the Futures Gymnastics Centre in Mississauga, won the bronze medal.
National team members Aleeza Hu of Richmond Hill, Kaitlyn Hofland of Georgetown, and Victoria Kayen Woo of Montreal finished fourth, fifth and six respectively.
Rounding out the Canadian results, Woo placed sixth in the uneven bars final.
