East Hamilton Babe Ruth Baseball will represent Ontario at the July 2013 Cal Ripken Baseball Major 70′ Canadian Championships in Vancouver.
The winner of the tournament, which will include teams from British Columbia and Alberta, determines the Canadian entry for the Cal Ripken Baseball Major 70’ World Series in Aberdeen, Maryland, Aug 9 – 18.

The East Hamilton Battlefield Babe Ruth League has offered Cal Ripken Baseball divisions to its community for six seasons. Competition is structured in divisions for four-year-olds to 12-year-olds.
Cal Ripken Baseball World Series are offered for 10-and-Under and 12U, playing on 60-foot base paths, and 12U using 70-foot base paths, In addition, 8U, 9U, 11U, using 60‘ paths, and 11U using 70-foot paths compete in tournaments that offer district, state/provincial and regional championships.
The Cal Ripken Major 70′ division employs regular baseball rules, including leadoffs and base stealing on a field with 70′ bases and 50′ pitching mound.
Players age 12U (as of April 30, 2013) are welcome to try out for the East Hamilton team as it prepares for the summer event. The team will also participate in other Western New York Cal Ripken Baseball tournaments.

Under normal conditions, a team must qualify for the world series. However, the Ontario programme is very young.
There are plans to grow Cal Ripken Baseball across Ontario during the next few years. In the future teams will play in their district to win a spot to play in the Ontario qualifier.
East Hamilton Babe Ruth has also bid to host the 2014 Canadian championship in Hamilton.
