Knights crown Mountaineers in volleyball

The Mohawk men’s volleyball team completed first semester play in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association West Region, losing their third consecutive match, in straight sets, to visiting Niagara on Tuesday (Dec. 4).

The Knights moved into a tie for third place with Humber by virtue of their 26-24, 25-19, 25-22 decision, which upped their record to 6-3, while the Mountaineers fell to 5-4.

Mo Sulaiman led Mohawk with 11 kills and two stuff blocks. Trevor McLaughlin had eight kills and two blocks. Phil Youngblut managed three kills, one service ace and four blocks.

On defense, Bart Jedrzejewski had 12 digs.

For Niagara, Shayne Petrusma led his team with 14 kills, three blocks and five digs. Jeff Scott had seven kills and one block and Mark Kiers contributed eight digs.
