King is perfect again at Skyway


bowling_alleyChris King has rolled his seventh perfect 300 game at Skyway Lanes. After opening with 223 and 229 came the 300 for a 752 triple. His sixth 300 was two years ago, also at Skyway. King also has a trio of 299’s and a 298 for 10 honour scores.

Still at number one with 24 honour scores is Art Oliver Jr. who also is number one with 13 perfect games.

At the half way point of the 2012-2013 season there has been seven 300 games: Travis Cauley, Jeff Easton, Len Garinger Jr., Richard Parker, Mick Anderer, Christine Johnston & King.

There were four games over 250 in P & G Mixed action at Skyway: Mark Winger 266, Bruce Todd & Phil McCue 257 & Bill Lucas 255. Their triples were McCue 669 (257, 200, 212), Rooke 671 (232, 255), Todd 621 (257, 210) and Winger 610 (266). Paul Ward captured a 613 (233), Frank Bartlett 612 (245) and Kim Cheeseman was plus 94 with a brilliant 236. John Christie was plus 69 at 210. Monica Pratt tallied a 201, Linda Williams 194, and Merk Sokolow 168. With clean games were Frank Bartlett and Sandra Ballegeer.

June Najbor reports from the Skyway Junior bowlers that Joey Ransom used a 257 game to post a 578 triple. Brooke Nelson, 113 average, dealt a 156 game while P.J. Cheyenne Mille, 133 aver., hit a 171 game. Four year old Allan Nelson used games of 64 and 56 for a 120 double. Drake Kotecki, 48 average, tripped a 172 with an 88 game and Shelbie Smith-Rizzi, 38 average, came in with a 190 (57, 68, 65).

In Jonarc Classic action, tops averages are Travis Cauley 226, Art Oliver Jr. 221, Scott Grunau 213, Aaron Bouchard and Shawn Anderson 212, Ryan Dickenson 211 and Doug Schatz 210. Super singles are Deric Curley 290, Steve Smith 270, Bill Atkinson & Lee Oliver 248, Amanda Lupton 237, Kathy Maurer 233 & Dan Whitfield 206.

Ed Margueratt used a 10 strike performance in a 268 game to tally 649 in VSL play and two split makers were Don Fraser the 3-6-7-8 and Derek Hannah the 3-6-7-10. For the Westinghouse bunch, Nobby Herchenroder 255, Ed Margueratt 235, Doug Stickney 217 for a 616 triple, Wendell Harrison 215, Sheila Moser 214, Fred Bird 212, Jeff Laing 210 and topped everyone was Dylan Herchenroder with a Century award winning game of 263 with his 159 average. Sean Elley was happy with a 243 game and 622 triple.

From Splitsville Centre, Bill Hicks 923 (240, 234, 235, 214), Cory Davies 913 (248) & Christine Johnston 807 (191, 224, 201, 191). In the annual seniors tournament Al Oliver won for the men with Walter Downey second and Lynda Hirschman was first for the women. Next tournament is the adult’s” pins over average”. Current membership total is 1094 with 74 being youth.

From Burlington Bowl, Jim Morrison, a new association director, 628 with a 257 game, Joey Welling 233, Sandra Cox 225, Doug Miller 220 and 210 and Gloria Gibson was plus 65 at 186. Eight year old John Fraser was consistent with 97, 96 and 94 as was ten year old MacKenzie Smith at 96, 100 and 96.

TENPIN TRIVIA

Earlier this year in the U.S. a 90 year old man rolled a perfect 300 game and now an 80 year old North Carolina man rolled an 846 (268, 299, 279) triple.

For the second time in 2012 a man in a wheelchair in Virginia has fired a perfect 300 game.

Top average last season in the USBC was 254.

Two Hamilton men who recently passed away in their late 80’s, had honour scores, Oz Harris 299 & Clayton Kinzel 298.

Former V.S.L. bowler Alex Gorda has passed away at 88.

Before Lucky Strike opened in Stoney Creek in 1958, another Lucky Strike was in play at King & James in 1920.

In 1991 Jim Margueratt rolled 17 consecutive nine pin counts, one under the record.
