Novice Wildcats second in first basketball tourney

The Hamilton Wildcats Novice boys team found a silver lining in their first basketball tournament of the season.

The players, under 10 years old, placed second at Brantford’s recent Paul Mitchell Invitational Tournament. For many players, this was their first-ever tournament, as Novice is the youngest age division of rep basketball competition.

Playing strong offense and defense throughout the three-day affair against teams from Niagara Falls, Grimsby, Mississauga, and Hamilton, the Wildcats finished round-robin play with a 2-1 record, and moved onto the semi-finals, where they emerged victorious after a close, hard fought game.

In the finals, they faced a tough rival from Mississauga, and eventually claimed the silver medal. The Wildcats draw players from Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, and Hamilton.
