’Dogs give little support to Desjardins

657px-Cedrick_DesjardinsWhile the city was digging out from a major daytime snow storm, Hamilton Bulldogs’ goalie Cedrick Desjardins was being buried by an avalanche of 36 shots from the Chicago Wolves on Friday night. Desjardins stopped 36 of the rubber discs but it wasn’t enough as the host Bulldogs fell 3-0 to the Wolves before a faithful following of 3,445 at Copps Coliseum.

Desjardins counterpart, Matt Climie, turned aside all 23 shots he faced for his third shutout this American Hockey League season.

Providing the firepower for the Wolves was Michael Davies with two goals, including the game-winner which came just under three minutes into the game.

Davies scored at 2:51 after he was sent in all alone and roofed a backhander over the shoulder Desjardins. Just 38 seconds later Kevin Connauton floated a shot from the left boards which found its way past Desjardins.

Davies scored his second tally at 2:28 of the second stanza.

The Bulldogs’ next game is against the Texas Stars at Copps Saturday (Feb. 9) at 7 p.m.
