The Mohawk men stumbled out of the gate in the first draw at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Curling Championships at the St. Thomas Curling Club on Wednesday (Feb. 13).
The Mountaineer rink, skipped by Wesley Steen, dropped a 7-2 decision in seven ends to St. Clair. The Saints scored two in the first end, then stole singles in each of the next four ends before Mohawk put two on the board, but by then it was too little, too late.
The Mohawk men have to get right back at it at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, when they meet Humber.
The Mohawk women have their first game against Sault College Thursday afternoon at 3:30. Sandy Toole and Erin Walker are expected to share the skip position for the Mountaineers.
