The Mohawk Mountaineers know they are in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association women’s basketball post season, but after their 69-49 loss to Algoma University on Sunday (Feb. 17), where they play a cross-over qualifying game next weekend remains uncertain.
Mohawk, which saw it’s fifth place record drop to 9-8 in the West Region is chasing fourth place. St. Clair (10-8) took over that spot after defeating Sheridan (7-10 ), 95-72. Mohawk finishes its regular season against Sheridan on Wednesday (Feb. 20) in Hamilton.
A win for Mohawk will leave them with a 10-8 record and tied for fourth place with St. Clair. In two regular season meetings, the teams split the games, Mohawk winning 81-78 and losing 72-56.
For the Mountaineers on Sunday, Natalie Fisher scored 12 points and seven rebounds while Carissa Browne had 11 points.
Corina Bruni led the Thunderbirds with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
