The McMaster swim team had three medal-winning performances at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport swimming championships (Feb. 21-23) hosted by the University of Calgary.

The first podium finish went to the women’s 4 X 100-metre freestyle relay team of Meg Sloan, Emily Fung, Emma Mittermaier, and Sarah Taylor who won a bronze medal. Their time of 3.45:45 set a McMaster team record, bettering the old standard by 1.5 seconds.

The relay performance was followed up by a terrific swim from Konrad Bald in the 100-metre breaststroke. Bald captured the silver medal, just getting edged out by Calgary’s Jason Block, who won the race in CIS record time. Bald’s silver-medal swim of 1.00:14 smashed the old McMaster record by 1.4 seconds.

The Marauders’ third podium effort was a silver medal finish by Cameron Bailey in the men’s 200m individual medley. He missed the gold medal by 32/100ths of a second, touching at 2:00.32 behind Steven Bielby of McGill (2:00.00).

The Women’s Student-Athlete Community Service Award went to Brock’s Erica Dugas.

The Mac men’s team finished seventh while the women were 11th. The Brock women were 21st.
