CLEVELAND – Dustin Tokarski picked up his fourth shutout of the season as he backstopped the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 2-0 whitewash of the Lake Erie Monsters on Saturday night (March 1). In picking up his first shutout as a Bulldog – but fourth of the season – Tokarski stopped 31 shots.
The Bulldogs, playing their second American Hockey League game in as many night, opened the scoring at 7:26 of the first period on a tally by Greg Pateryn who snapped a shot from the right point to beat goaltender Calvin Pickard.
The ‘Dogs completed their scoring with 65 seconds left in the period. Michael Bournival finished off a pretty passing play after a power play had just expired.
The ‘Dogs have now won seven of their last 10 games and improve to 13-0 when leading after two periods of play. Tokarski has stopped 139 of 146 shots in his five games as a Bulldog for a save percentage of .952.
The Bulldogs’ next game is against the Abbotsford Heat at Copps Coliseum on Tuesday (March 5) at 7:30 p.m.
