Two Golden Horseshoe athletes have won accolades for their Ontario Colleges Athletic Association play for the period ending Sunday, March 17.
The Overall Male Athlete of the Week and men’s basketball player for the same period is Trevor Williams of Oakville Sheridan’s men’s basketball. Third-year guard from Toronto was named a first-team all-star at nationals.
In four games, Williams scored 103 points, averaging just over 25 points per game. Sheridan split its four games, losing the bronze medal game in overtime to Vancouver’s Langara College.
In volleyball, the men’s athlete of the week is Niagara’s Shayne Petrusma.
The fifth-year outside hitter from Bowmanville was named player of the game in Team West’s 3-1 win over Team East at the annual OCAA men’s volleyball all-star game. The all-Canadian led all players with 10 kills totaling 10 points.
Other OCAA awards went to Sandre Bascoe, Algonquin women’s basketball, as female athlete of the week and women’s basketball player of the week; and Humber’s Nina Carino as women’s volleyball player of the week.
