Bulldogs call upon a Gladiator

bulldogsHamilton Bulldogs have signed forward Alex Belzile to a Professional Try-Out Contract. The American Hockey League Bulldogs have also loaned defenceman Antoine Corbin and forward Daultan Leveille to the playoff positioned San Francisco Bulls of the East Coast Hockey League.

Belzile, 21, has played 40 games this season for the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL registering 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists), a plus-12 rating and 26 penalty minutes. The 5’11”, 188-pound forward led the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in points last season with 92 (22 goals, 70 assists) while also recording a plus-31 rating and 85 penalty minutes in 63 regular season games.

The native of St-Eloi, Quebec spent three seasons in the QMJHL posting 193 points (59 goals, 134 assists), a plus-35 rating and 183 penalty minutes in 158 regular season games.

Corbin, 20, played 30 games for the Bulldogs this season recording three points (one goal, two assists) and 22 penalty minutes.

Leveille, 22, a native of St. Catharines, played 19 games for the Bulldogs this season registering two assists and four penalty minutes.

The Bulldogs are in Syracuse to play the Crunch on Friday (March 22). Going into Thursday’s games, Syracuse led all teams in points while the Bulldogs were dead last with 15 games remaining in their schedule.
