Michigan grad gets Bulldogs tryout

bulldogsThe Hamilton Bulldogs have signed defenceman Matt Grassi to an Amateur Try-Out Contract.

Grassi, 24, played 41 games this season for Michigan State University of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association where he recorded three points (one goal, two assists) and 22 penalty minutes. The 6’4”, 220-pound defenceman spent four seasons with Michigan State from 2009-13. He totalled 19 points (three goals, 16 assists) and 101 penalty minutes in 121 regular season games.

The native of Burnaby, B.C. played three seasons from 2006-09 with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the British Columbia Hockey League posting 75 points (12 goals, 63 assists) and 77 penalty minutes in 144 regular season games.

The Bulldogs’ next game is against the Abbotsford Heat at Copps Coliseum on Wednesday (March 27) at 7:30 p.m.
