Bulldogs break even on road trip


bulldogsHouston, Texas – The Hamilton Bulldogs finished their four game road trip with a .500 mark after dropping a 2-0 decision to the Houston Aeros on Sunday night (April 7).

Dan DaSilva scored the game-winner and Jeff Deslauriers stopped all 22 shots he faced for the American Hockey League shutout.

The Aeros eventual game-winning goal came just before the midway mark of the first period. DaSilva pounced on Zack Phillips’ rebound and slid the puck past goaltender Robert Mayer.

After a scoreless second period, Houston added an insurance marker just past the midway point of the final stanza. Nick Peterson beat Mayer when he flipped the puck over the netminder’s shoulder.

Houston outshot their guests 29-22 before a crowd of 9,428.

The Bulldogs’ next game is against the Lake Erie Monsters at Copps Coliseum on Friday (April 12) at 7:30 p.m.

Earlier in the day, the Montreal Canadiens recalled defenceman Nathan Beaulieu from the Bulldogs.

Beaulieu, 20, played two games for the NHL Canadiens after being recalled for the first time on March 29 when he had one assist and two penalty minutes. Beaulieu has played 64 games for the Bulldogs this season recording 28 points (7 goals, 21 assists) and 56 penalty minutes and leads the team in assists.
