MLB Pitch, Hit and Run comes to Hamilton


phr_logo_002-208x300Major League Baseball’s Pitch Hit and Run competition for youths seven to 14 years old are set to begin in Hamilton on the May 11-12 weekend.

Local competitions are scheduled for Saturday, May 11 with registration starting at 10 a.m. at Sir Wilfrid Laurier School, 70 Albright Road, in the city’s east end. Additional details can be obtained by emailing battlefield.baseball@yahoo.ca

On Sunday, May 12, a second competition is set for Bennetto School, 47 Simcoe Street in the downtown’s north area. Signups start at 10 a.m. and baseball@comlinksoho.com can provide more information on this event.

Participants will be placed into age groups of 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14 for both boys and girls for the pitch. hit and run skills. Winners of each age group, boys and girls, for each skill and the overall winners advance to a sectional competition with a chance to make the Blue Jays competition where participants have a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to compete at the finals at this summer’s MLB All-Star Game in New York City (www.mlb.com/phr).
