Transway adds more basketball gold

Hamilton’s Transway Major Atom girls completed an undefeated basketball weekend to claim the CNY Showcase Showdown in Syracuse, NY

Travelling with a roster of 10, the players battled hard and went undefeated over the weekend to claim the championship in the Girls Junior Gold division. Facing competitors from across N.Y., including Salt City, Rochester, and Finger Lakes, the team faced their toughest opponent in the host team, the Syracuse Nets.

Heading into the weekend, the Nets were undefeated and are expected to be a strong contender for their state title. The Nets were a fantastic match up for the Transway girls, and both times the two teams met (round robin play and the championship game), Transway battled from behind and emerged victorious by a single point.

The Transway girls will now move on to compete in their final tournament at the Erie Spring Classic in Pennsylvania. To date, the team has had a strong season, winning four golds and three bronze medals in tournament play. Players are from Ancaster, Burlington, Dundas, Hamilton, and Stoney Creek.

In addition to the support from their family and friends, the team would like to thank their sponsors, Aerial Promotions, Alliance Chiropractic & Wellness Clinic, Daltech Computers, and TD Canada Trust for their generosity this season.
