CANET-EN-ROUSILLON, France – Burlington’s Sinead Russell just missed earning a second medal at the third and last stop on the Mare Nostrum swimming circuit Sunday (June 16) placing fourth in the women’s 200 metre backstroke.

Katinka Hosszu of Hungary won the gold medal in two minutes and 09.76 seconds, Daryna Zevina of Ukraine was second in 2:10.59 and Duane DaRocha of Spain third in 2:10.80.

Russell, a 2012 Olympian tuning up for this summer’s FINA World Championships, touched the wall in 2:12.24. She took third spot on Saturday in the 100m backstroke, clocking 1:00.81.
