Hamilton MVC grads hit the collegiate level

Six players from the Mountain Volleyball Club’s 18-under girls team will be playing at the post-secondary level this fall.

Randi Carey will be playing for London’s Fanshawe Falcons in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association play.

Competing in Ontario University Athletics will be Lindsay Vanderweide and Jessica Klassen at North Bay’s Nipissing Lakers, Madi Taylor will be playing for the Waterloo Warriors, and Maicee Sorenson and Caitlin Genovy will join Hamilton’s McMaster Marauders.

MVC finished the 2012-13 season with 23 medals – 13 gold, five silver and five bronze.

Four MVC athletes will be attending the High Performance Centre/Team Ontario Selection Camp the first week of July at Nipissing University.

17U Victoria Golebiowski and 16U Jordan Koslowski were selected at the HPC tryouts on June 2 and 18U Genovy and Sorensen received direct invites.

Adding to the club’s successful year, six players were recognized recently with Ontario Volleyball Association 2013 Awards of Excellence for their on and off the court leadership, dedication, commitment, sportsmanship and playing performance. They are:

13U Maroon – Brianna Quijano
13U Black – Elisa Mejia
14U – Kate Keeting
15U – Lilia Olejarz
16U – Charlotte Rose.
