LONDON – The Burlington Bandits three-game win streak came crashing down on Friday (July 12) when the London Majors pounded them an 8-3 Intercounty Baseball League loss.
London broke a 3-3 tie with an eight-run eighth inning to secure the victory and improve the Majors record to 17-11 while snapping a two-game losing skid.
The Bandits slipped to 8-20.
London out-hit Burlington, 20-4, and also watched the visitors commit four errors, compared to none by the home side.
Ryan Lapensee went an astounding 5-for-6 for the Majors, scoring three times. Adwin Springer went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored in the win, while Derrik Strzalkowski had three hits, a run scored and an RBI. Paul Lytwynec singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored, while Paul Young also had three hits and a run batted in.
Brian Sewell came in to start the eighth inning for the Bandits and was issued the loss, allowing seven hits and six runs – none earned – with one strikeout during his three out effort.
Ryan Clarke singled, walked, drove in a run and scored for the Bandits, while Darryl Pui walked, singled and drove in a run. Nick Studer singled and scored, while Daniel Peake singled and Connor Panas scored to round out the Burlington offence.
