Steckly returns to victory lane

2011_ncats_vernon_steckly_win_700VERNON, B.C. – Scott Steckly finally returned to Victory Lane.

The two-time champion of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series broke a 17-race winless drought Saturday night (July 13) in the A&W Cruisin’ The Dub 300 at Motoplex Speedway & Event Park.

Steckly’s 12th career win came after back-to-back runner-up finishes in the last two races.

He pulled away from second place finisher Jason Hathaway for the victory by 2.197 seconds, his third win in the last four races at the Vernon half-mile tri-oval.

Jim White, driving a car out of Steckly’s shop, finished third and Mark Dilley was fourth.

L.P. Dumoulin finished fifth to take over the points lead from D.J. Kennington, who was ninth.

Ron Beauchamp Jr. was sixth, followed by Cameron Hayley, Ryley Seibert, Kennington and rookie Alex Guenette. Hayley, a NASCAR K&N Pro Series West regular and native of Canada, was making his NASCAR Canadian Tire Series debut.

Oakville’s Larry Jackson drove his Dodge to a 12th place finish after starting in the No. 16 spot.

The A&W Cruisin’ The Dub 300 will air Sunday, July 21 at 1:30 p.m. ET on TSN, and Saturday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. on RDS.
