Rain again plays havoc with IBL schedule

baseball-rain-big-620x325The rainy summer continues to cause problems with the Intercounty Baseball League schedule as both games scheduled for Friday night (Aug. 2) in the league were postponed due to rain.

In Hamilton, the Toronto Maple Leafs had a 7-2 lead on the Cardinals when rains hit in the top of the third inning before the game had to be cancelled. There was no make-up date immediately announced.

The game in London between the Burlington Bandits and the host Majors was also postponed due to rain before it could even begin. No re-scheduled date has been announced as of yet.

The IBL has 11 games left in regular season play and three games to be scheduled before the playoffs begin next week.

Brantford has finished first, Toronto will finish fifth and Guelph will finish last in eighth place. First round playoff series are all best-of-sevens, with only Brantford vs. Guelph determined as a first round match-up.

On Sunday (Aug. 4) the Cardinals and Bandits are scheduled to play at 2 p.m. at Bernie Arbour Stadium.
