A lane violation cost York athlete Crystal Emmanuel a spot in the women’s 200-metre semi-final at the International Association of Athletics Federations World Championships on Thursday (Aug. 15).
Emmanuel was second in her heat, clocking 23.14, and looked like she had a spot in the semi-final locked up. However, seconds after the race she was disqualified for a lane violation and did not advance. Kimberly Hyacinthe of Lachenaie, QC did qualify semi-final by finishing third in her heat in 23.19 seconds.
York is situated halfway between Caledonia and Cayuga.
