Welland snowed under by Avalanche

Ancaster-Avs-200pxANCASTER – Greg Harley scored twice, including the game-winner, as the Ancaster Avalanche (formerly the Stoney Creek Warriors) downed Welland Junior Canadians, 6-3, in the Avs inaugural Junior B pre-season hockey game in Ancaster’s Morgan Firestone Arena on Saturday night (Aug. 17).

The Avalanche started slowly, falling behind 1-0, but rallied to tie Welland, and take the lead as they skated away with the victory.

Last night’s game marked the return of Ontario Hockey Association Junior B hockey to Ancaster for the first time in 20 years. Next action for the Avalanche is Sunday (Aug. 18) at Welland against the Canadians at 7 p.m.

In addition to Harley, Ancaster got goals from William Kelly, Michael Pollice, Elijah Williams, and Kyle Chalmers. Harley and Kelly led in points with three each. Williams added two more. Replying with single goals for Welland were Braydon Stortz, Max Cipriano, and Jeff Whitwell.
