Hamilton girls hockey league set for open registration

hghaThe Hamilton Girls Hockey Association (HGHA), in conjunction with the City of Hamilton Recreation Division, will hold an open registration for girls wishing to play hockey this winter. The Saturday, Sept. 7 registration will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chedoke Arena, 91 Chedmac Drive in Hamilton.

The HGHA was formed in 1992 and consisted of one team of 15 girls. The league has grown to include over 20 teams with an executive committee of 15 volunteers, who oversee the entire league.

The HGHA offers divisions ranging from Pre-Novice 5-year-olds to 21-year-old Intermediates. The association is split into two categories: House League and Rep (or competitive). The house league divisions play various centre’s in the surrounding Hamilton area, such as Stoney Creek, Ancaster, Flamborough, and is a great way for female athletes to learn team play while having fun.

All leagues in Ontario are governed by the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association.
