The Mohawk women’s fastball team is still looking for its first win of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association season.
The Mountaineers dropped a pair of decisions – 10-4 and 6-3 – to the Seneca Sting in North York on Tuesday (Sep. 17).
Mohawk saw its record drop to 0-5, while Seneca improved to 2-3.
In the opener, Mohawk was out-hit 25-15. Pacing the Mountaineers offence were Jennifer VanDyk and Amanda Edmonds. VanDyk was 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs-batted-in while Edmonds was 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Becky Rabchuk had a 2-for-3 plate effort and Nicole Leitch was 2-for-4 with a triple.
Taking the loss for Mohawk was Niki Grover who pitched the full game.
In the second game, Stephanie Duffin was 3-for-four at the plate and scored one run. Edmonds was 1-for-2 with an RBI, Leitch had a double and RBI while Nicole Cain drove in Mohawk’s other run.
The Mountaineers were out hit 18-11. Laura Chappel took the loss and pitched the entire game.
The Mountaineers next action is at home Friday (Sep. 20) when they host the Durham Lords of Oshawa at 5:30 at Mohawk Sports Park.
