Golfer Garon ends five shots short

Golf_ball_resting_near_fairway_woodIt was a very wet day for golf, but Cameron Garon of Mohawk College finished tied for fifth place, five shots off the pace, in an invitational golf tourney at the Forest City National Golf and Country Club in London on Saturday (Sept. 21).

Other Mohawk scores included, Mike Rizzetto (76), Brendan Lewis (82), Jair Saenz (82), Eric Stuebing (83). Mohawk also had two alternates playing. Charlie Steele carded 84 and Kevin Gee shot 88.

Humber’s Alex Dumais won the event with a 69 and led his Hawks to the men’s team championship. Heather McKenzie of St. Clair shot 81 to win the women’s individual title by three strokes. Mohawk’s lone entry, Jessica Fell, scored 113. St. Clair took the women‘s team event.

The golfers move on to Hunters Pointe Golf Club in Welland on Monday. That tourney will be hosted by Niagara College.
