Rallis scores shootout winner against Ancaster

Ancaster AvANCASTER— Yana Rallis scored his third goal of the season to carry St. Catharines Falcons to a 3-2 shootout victory over the Ancaster Avalanche before more than 300 fans on Dave Andreychuk Night on Saturday (Sept. 21) in the Morgan Firestone Arena.

Also scoring for St. Catharines were Aaron Taylor and Mark Rodgers (power play). Scoring for Ancaster were Max Alanson (powerplay), and Ryan Lewis in the Golden Horseshoe Junior B hockey contest.

Andreychuk, a Stanley Cup winner with the 2004 Tampa Bay Lightning, dropped the ceremonial first puck, and signed autographs. The night was filled with prizes, and fundraising in support of the Andreychuk Foundation. A portion of the ticket sales plus revenue from the 50/50 sales and Avalanche Beer Garden was donated.

The Andreychuk Foundation focuses on giving back to the community through children’s charities and helping kids reach their goals.

Next action for the Avalanche is Friday (Sept. 27) at 7:30 p.m. in St. Catharines’ Jack Gatecliff Arena against the Falcons. The following night the Avs entertain the Port Colborne Pirates in Firestone Arena at 7:30 p.m.
