Bantam Junior Ticats win fourth straight

hmfa_ticatsHamilton’s Junior Ticats, representing the Hamilton Minor Football Association, continued their winning ways in Ontario Varsity Football League Fall Rep Bantam play on Saturday (Sept. 21) in Pickering, winning their fourth straight game to stay atop the league standings with a 45-20 decision.

In Peewee Fall Rep play in Pickering, the Jr. Ticats lost a tight one to Pickering, 18-16, while the Atom ‘Cats were shut out, 33-0, by host Pickering.

The Jr. Ticats will host the London Jr. Mustangs next Sunday (Sept 29) at Mohawk Sports Park Field 1, with the Atom ‘Cats beginning at 9am.

HMFA Minor Development

hmfa_sqIn HMFA Peewee Minor Development (MD) results from Mohawk Sports Park on Sunday (Sept. 22), the Stoney Creek Bombers and Toronto Jets tangled in a high-scoring affair, with the Bombers outlasting the Jets, 59-34. Meanwhile, the East Mountain Lions shut out the Etobicoke Eagles, 28-0. In the third game, the East Hamilton Stamps beat the West Mountain Riders, 20-6. Owen Southward raced 105 yards for the Riders’ TD.

In Bantam MD play on Sunday, the Stamps knocked off the Riders, 38-8. Lucas Pugliese scored the TD for Riders while Jake Attard picked off a Stamps pass for an interception. The Westdale Eskimos whitewashed the East Mountain Lions, 33-0, while the Stoney Creek Bombers toppled the Cambridge Lions, 33-18.

In Atom MD games, the East Hamilton Stampeders lost twice against Cambridge teams last week. On Sept. 18, Cambridge Green edged the Stamps, 19-18, while on Saturday, the Stamps lost, 26-6, to Cambridge Gold.

The HMFA is celebrating 50 years of football this year with a Halloween Dinner Dance, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 25 at Michelangelo’s. Tickets are $25 each and all former players, coaches and supporters 19 and older are invited. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 and dancing until 1.
