James Mewse-Detrich’s powerplay slapshot from the right faceoff circle carried Port Colborne Pro-Fit Pirates to a 6-5 overtime victory over the Ancaster Avalanche Saturday night (Sept. 28) in Golden Horseshoe Conference Junior B hockey action in the Morgan Firestone Arena.

The game appeared to turn four minutes into the third when Spencer Fox fired a shot past Ancaster goalie Jeremy Currie at 5:27. Cole Nagy, however, gave Ancaster another chance when he ripped a shot from the left faceoff circle past Port Colborne netminder Marcus Hlywka with six seconds left in regulation time.
