A Ben Baksys to Braiden Chandler pass lifted the Hamilton Wentworth Minor Football Association Tyke1 Tiger-Cats to a come-from-behind 28-25 win over the visiting Brantford Bisons 2 on Sunday (Sept. 29).
The Bisons started strong scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter with one successful convert for a 13-0 lead in the Central Ontario Minor Football League tilt. Before the period ended Hamilton Wentworth reduced the margin thanks to a TD run by Brett Miller with Damon Clark adding the point after.
The second quarter was a see-saw battle with both teams getting touchdowns. The Tiger-Cats got theirs on a scamper by Chandler, with Clark connecting on the convert.
Brantford was unsuccessful on its convert, ending the half-time at 19-14 for the visitors to MacRae Fields.
The Ticats came out quickly in the second half and pulled into the lead on a Ky Grant run to produce a major score with Clark converting. However, a determined Brantford team regained the lead at the end of the quarter with a touchdown run.
Going into the final quarter, the equally determined Tyke Tiger-Cats got the go-ahead score when Baksys connected with Chandler and Clark contributed his fourth convert for the win.
In other Week 5 play in the COMFL, Hamilton Wentworth teams won three of four games.
