Quarterback Marshall Ferguson and women’s rugby fly half Stephanie Black are the Pita Pit Athletes of the Week for the period Sept. 30-Oct. 6.
Black, a second-year fly, made the most of her opportunities during the Marauders 64-7 Ontario University Athletics victory over the York Lions on Sunday. Black scored a game-high 24 points with two tries and seven converts, as McMaster clinched second place in the Russell Division and a quarterfinal berth at home on Friday.
This is Black’s second Athlete of the Week award this season.
Ferguson enjoyed the most productive day of his Marauder career on Saturday, completing 23 of 31 passing attempts for 309 yards and five touchdowns in three quarters of work, as McMaster rolled to a 66-3 OUA victory over the Waterloo Warriors.
The fourth-year quarterback spread the ball in a winning effort to eight different receivers and finding four of them in the end zone. Ferguson’s performance led the way as the Marauders posted their highest point total and largest margin of victory under the leadership of head coach Stefan Ptaszek.
