Postseason play on the line for Mountain rivals

It all comes down to the final OCAA soccer game of the season. With every other college soccer game in the province completed, the Royals and Mountaineers take centre stage tonight at the Royals Soccer Complex in a season ending battle with a playoff berth on the line. The winner will advance to the OCAA playoffs in the form of a western conference qualifying game.

Tonight’s game, set to kick off at 6:30pm, is a battle between the 2-4-1 Royals and the 2-5-0 Mountaineers. Only 1 point separates these cross-town rivals with Redeemer having the edge. The Royals will advance to the playoffs with a win or a tie while Mohawk will need an outright win in order to advance and knock their rivals out of contention.

Both teams had an opportunity to clinch a spot this weekend based on the results of each other but both teams failed to pick up any points. Redeemer fell to the Saint Clair Saints 2-0 at home while Mohawk lost a tight battle against the Fanshawe Falcons 3-2 on the road.

Mohawk will be playing without starters Sannzzaros, Korbut and Halm who were all suspended with red cards in the game against Fanshawe on Saturday.
