Mountaineers take big strides on cross-country

mohawk college xc teamThe Mohawk men’s cross-country team has gone from unranked to No. 8 in the latest Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association rankings.

Mohawk finished fourth in the men’s team competition at the recent Humber Invitational meet, their final tune-up for the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association championships.

With the top four individual results counting in the team total, Jessie Wilcox was seventh, Kevin Patterson was 12th, Hassan Ishaq wound up 31st and Ryan Gagnon was 33rd.

Other members of the team were Hassan Louw, Riley Kolisnyk and Aaron Downie.

The OCAA finals will be in Ancaster, Oct. 26, with Redeemer University College the host. The CCAA championships are set for Etobicoke, Nov. 9, at Humber College.
