QUEBEC CITY – Georgian College’s Colton Kalkanis (Barrie) made history on the links again on Friday (Oct. 18), becoming the first man to defend his individual title at the 2013 PING Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Golf National Championships at the Royal Quebec Golf Club in Quebec City.
Kalkanis shot back-to-back rounds of 68 before Friday’s final round of 65 for a three-day total of 201, fifteen strokes under par. Kalkanis dominated the competition, winning easily by 10 strokes.
A year ago, Kalkanis became the first golfer to win the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association and CCAA men’s individual titles in the same season.
Oakville’s Scott Benzoni of Humber placed ninth, one stroke over par. OCAA men’s individual champion Christian McCullough (Mississauga) finished in a tie for 66th place.
