The women finished fifth and the men were sixth as the McMaster Marauders golf teams concluded the Ontario University Athletics season on Tuesday.
Playing their OUA championship at Cambridge Golf Club, the Marauders women’s team had its lowest team total of the season (532) to place in the middle of the 10 team field. The OUA title went to the University of Toronto Blues with a total of 479.
Individually for the Marauders, Michaela DiMarcantonio finished 13th with a total of 170 (90, 80), and Jenny Kim finished 19th with 176 (86, 90). Rachael Wright carded a 187 total (99, 88) and Sasha Wright had 194 (98, 96).
“I am proud of the way the girls battled the poor weather conditions to post their best team score of the season,” said Mac’s women’s coach Andrew Ross.
In equally harsh weather conditions at the Grey Silo Golf Course in Waterloo, the men posted a combined, two-day total of 604 (300, 304) to finish sixth in a 16-team event. The Western Mustangs took gold with a team total of 582.
For Mac, Jonathan Lam tied for 12th with a two-day total of 149, including a solid one-under-par 70 on Monday’s opening round. David Bigelow was tied for 22nd place with a two-day total of 151 (75, 76). Rounding out the Marauders were Patrick Thornley with 153 (78, 75), Wesley Kwok (85, 74) and Colin McCoy (77, 82), both with a 159.
