Ancaster’s DeJong was women’s sharp shooter in soccer


The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association has announced Mohawk’s soccer All-Stars for the 2013 season. Each team nominates its top players.

On the women’s side, Shelby Dawdy, a defender from Waterdown and Shari Leavitt, a midfielder from Mississauga, were named to the West Division select side.

Rookie forward Rachelle DeJong was honoured for being the top scorer in the division. DeJong, from Ancaster, had six goals in seven games for an average of 0.86 goals per game.

Meanwhile, defender Rob Schlosser of Winona and Patryk Korbut, a forward from Barrie, were named to the men’s West All-Stars.

The OCAA Soccer Championships are being held this weekend. The women play at Sheridan College in Oakville, while the men are at Algonquin College in Ottawa.
