Sucre, Bolivia – Burlington’s Annie Fisher and partner Alexis Iwaasa of Lethbridge, Alta., lost their match in Girl’s U14 Doubles against the Ecuadoran team of Maria Jose Munoz and Ivana Sempertegui, 6-15, 15-14, 11-6, in play at the 25th International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Junior Championships Thursday (Oct. 24).
Fisher’s and Iwassa’s record is now 2-3 with one match to still to play in a seven-team round robin.
Iwaasa also lost her quarter-final match in Girl’s U14 against No. 1 seed Ana Gabriela Martinez of Guatemala, 15-11, 15-2.
Meanwhile, Coby Iwaasa of Lethbridge, Alta., and Alexis’s cousin, won his quarter-final match in Boy’s U16 taking another step to defending the title he won a year ago. Iwaasa beat Alexander Pirie of Costa Rica, 15-1, 15-6 on Thursday.
