The ninth Canadian Interuniversity Sport top-ten poll of the year includes three McMaster Marauder teams. The men’s and women’s cross country squads remain in the mix ahead of the CIS championships, and the men’s volleyball team sits firm in the second spot.

McMaster’s cross-country teams saw some movement in their national rankings after hosting Ontario University Athletics championships on Oct. 26. The Marauder men enjoyed a stellar meet, and rode all-star performances from Taylor Reid and Blair Morgan to a silver-medal finish as a team. They were rewarded for that podium place in this week’s rankings, seeing their seeding rise three places to No. 3.

The Marauder women, meanwhile, dropped from sixth into a tie for eighth in the national rankings after finishing sixth as a team at the OUA finale.

The two teams have a week to prepare ahead of the CIS windup, being hosted by Western on Nov. 9.

The Marauder men’s volleyball team vindicated CIS voters in opening their conference season with two wins in Windsor and London this past weekend. McMaster swept the Windsor Lancers in their season opener on Oct. 25, and dealt a five-set defeat to the No. 10-ranked Western Mustangs the next night.

The Marauders return home for a single match this weekend, as they welcome the Toronto Varsity Blues to the Burridge Gym on Nov. 2.
