Marauders reaching out to Hamilton basketball, volleyball

A new initiative intended to help local basketball and volleyball teams at the grassroots level is being rolled out this season by McMaster Athletics.

The MCMASTER TEAM PROGRAM will invite teams to attend Marauder varsity games and receive a special game day package allowing players and coaches to see the contests through the eyes of McMaster varsity athletes and coaches, gain understanding about strategies, and acquire knowledge about how and why things are done in actual game situations.

In addition, the program will enable participants signing up to have post-game interaction with the Marauder teams, including meeting players and staff to talk about the games, and ask questions about anything from why a certain decision was made in the heat of competition to what is involved in playing at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport level.

The intent is to create a unique opportunity for young athletes in the community to connect with McMaster players in a learning dynamic that is fun and instructional. Passion for competition is a key part of the McMaster sports culture and this is an effort to share that passion with the next generation.

The MCMASTER TEAM PROGRAM is open to all school and club basketball and volleyball teams for athletes between the ages of 12 to 18. The package includes $3.00 discounted tickets for the games, and all you have to do is sign up and wear something with your team logo on it.
