An 18-13 win over the Twin Cities Purple Warhawks on Saturday (Nov. 9) in Toronto’s Esther Shiner Stadium earned the Tiger-Cats the championship.

The Tyke 2s’ JT Landry opened the scoring for the Tiger-Cats with a touchdown in the first quarter and another in the second period. Twin Cities replied with a touchdown in the second quarter as the Tiger-Cats took a 12-6 edge into the second half.

In the third quarter a Twin Cities touchdown and successful convert gave the Purple Warhawks a slim 13-12 lead.

The Tiger-Cats defense kept Twin Cities at bay for the rest of the game with big hits and great teamwork. The Tiger-Cats defense caused a huge turnover with three minutes left in the fourth quarter leaving the HWMFA reps offense on the Twin Cities 20-yard line. After one first down, the Tykes 2 offensive line opened up a hole and Riley Ferrell scampered for the winning TD on a QB keep.

Head coach Jeff Ferrell said after the game that he couldn’t be more proud of his boys for all their hard work this season.
