Bulldogs end losing run with shoot-out win

The Hamilton Bulldogs ended their losing streak at six games with a 3-2 shoot-out win over the Lake Erie Monsters on Saturday (Nov. 16). Twenty-four hours earlier the Monsters had beaten the Bulldogs 5-2 in their American Hockey League encounter in Hamilton.

Bulldogs forward Gabriel Dumont scored the only goal of the shootout as the ‘Dogs improved to 6-7-0-3 and the Monsters fell to 8-6-0-1.

Defenceman Nathan Beaulieu, with his first goal of the season, and Louis Leblanc scored for Hamilton in regulation time. Leblanc’s goal came on a delayed penalty call to Lake Erie and Hamilton goalie Dustin Tokarski on the bench for an extra skater – Leblanc.

Garrett Meurs and former Bulldogs JT Wyman (shorthanded) replied for the Monsters.

Tokarski made 28 saves on 30 shots while Calvin Pickard made 33 saves on 35 shots for the Monsters.

Hamilton went 1-for-5 on the power play, while Lake Erie went 0-for-4.

Hamilton’s next game is scheduled for Tuesday (Nov. 19) when they will host the Texas Stars (AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars) at Copps Coliseum, 7:30 p.m.
