Mac wrestlers have strong effort at London


Jason Buckle and Ahmed Shamiya topped their weight classes as the Marauder wrestling teams competed at the Harry Geris Memorial Tournament in London on Saturday (Nov. 16).

Buckle took first in the 61kg division while Shamiya was the best in the 65kg class. Andrew Balach followed with a silver medal in the heavyweight 120kg division, while Andrew Sinclair (57kg), Rohan Cornelio (68kg) and Kevin Barret (82kg) finished third to round out the podium places for the Marauder men.

On the women’s side, the Marauders graced the podium on three separate occasions, as Monica Wood (48kg), Nicole Roach (59kg) and Angelina Sacchetti (63kg) each finished third in their respective divisions.

The Marauders men’s team placed third and the women were fifth in the overall results.
