Brittany Pask of the Marauder swimming team and Jayson McCarthy of the men’s volleyball team are the Pita Pit Athletes of the Week for the period of Nov. 11-17.

Pask, a rookie, had an outstanding weekend as the Marauders hosted the Tihanyi Division Championships. Pask broke a McMaster team record in the 50m backstroke with a time of 29.13, finishing first and qualifying for the Canadian Interuniversity Sport championships in the process. She added a silver medal as a member of the 200m medley relay team alongside Alexa Vanommen, Natasha Strass-Hundal and Emily Fung, and narrowly missed the podium in the 100m backstroke, finishing fourth.

McCarthy put up 27 points over the course of two matches, as the Marauders enjoyed another spotless weekend of competition. The second-year outside led McMaster with 12.5 points in the team’s straight-sets win over the Queen’s Gaels on Saturday, converting on 11 of 26 hitting attempts and adding an ace.

He added 11 kills to his tally on Sunday along with three aces, as the Marauders swept the RMC Paladins. McMaster now stands as the only unbeaten team in CIS men’s volleyball, and has dropped only two sets in six matches.
