Black becomes Gold in volleyball


The Mountain Volleyball Club’s 14U Black team won the Gold medal at the 14U Provincial Cup held in Waterdown on Nov. 16th.

Placing first in pool play, MVC 14U Black defeated the Niagara Rapids White, 25-3, 25-8, and the Predators 13U Black, 25-6, 25-11.

In the quarter-finals, MVC defeated the Niagara Rapids Black 13U, 25-6, 25-12, and the host Waterdown Raiders, 25-7, 25-15, in the semi-finals.

In the championship match, MVC defeated the Niagara Rapids Blue, 25-11, 25-14, to finish the tournament as champions without losing a set.

The MVC 14U Black team is coached by Peter Stratford of Burlington and Kristin Kawamoto of Hamilton.

MVC 14U Black athletes include: Elisa Mejia, Stoney Creek; Khloe Mattiozzi, Felicia Malavolta, Taylor Morrison, and Grace Heath, all of Hamilton; Megan Grosso, Carlisle; Karmen Krug, Waterdown; Christina Stratford, Burlington; and Megan Richer and Scarlett Windich of Dundas.
