McCoys lose two players but find scoring punch

165px-Dundas_Real_McCoysScott Mifsud struck for three goals and six assists as the Dundas Real McCoys hammered Norwood Vipers 13-7 for their second win of the season Sunday night (Nov. 24) in Allan Cup Hockey action in the Asphodel-Norwood Arena.

Cam Watson also chipped in with a three-goal effort, and set up two scoring plays for Dundas. Adam Deleeuw added a pair of goals with Darryl Smith, Joe Koudys and Randy Rowe adding a goal and three assists apiece. TJ Sakaluk and Ryan Crane had a goal and an assist each. Jeff White set up two Dundas scoring plays.

The McCoys were .500 on the powerplay, and it showed.

Murray Free and Darren Doherty replied for Norwood with two goals and two assists each. Chris Johnston, Mike Madgett, and Colin Baker scored once each. Nathan Oke drew two assists.

On Friday (Nov. 22), the Real McCoys overpowered the Stoney Creek Generals 10-3 in the JL Grightmire Arena.

“We felt we could score all along, we just needed to gel. I guess scoring 23 goals in two games means it’s coming together for us, “ said McCoys president and general manager Don Robertson. “Last week was an interesting week. We lost Shawn Snider to Sweden, and Ryan Watson went to Bakersfield in the East Coast Hockey League.”

“However, we added a former Memorial Cup winner, Jordan Foreman, got Smith back, and added Rowe. Rowe is a former ECHL all-star, and came to us via Bryan Worosz (goalkeeper), who had played minor hockey with him in Brantford. In addition, we signed former American Hockey League veteran and former Hamilton Bulldog Kevin Bolibruck.”

The McCoys next action is against the Welland Whalers on Friday night (Nov. 29) at 7:30 p.m. in Grightmire Arena. Dundas is fourth in the ACH with two wins and two losses and three games in hand on the leaders.

Last Friday in Grightmire Arena, Foreman paced the McCoys’ attack with a goal and three assists. Watson added two goals. Player-coach Jay McKee connected for a goal and an assist. Simon Mangos, Bolibruck, Jerry Galway, Steve Hurst, Scott Stafford, and Blair Stayzer had a goal each. Mifsud, Davis and Ryan Christie set up two-scoring plays apiece. Kyle Zettler, Cole McNeil, and Scott Croxall replied for Stoney Creek.
