It will be Hamilton versus Burlington in the annual RBC Sports Day in Canada event set for Saturday (Nov. 30) at Pier 8.
Teams from the Steel City will take on opponents from Burlington in a Road Hockey Challenge on Hamilton’s waterfront. The games, spearheaded by Sport Hamilton, will feature three ball hockey contests with a celebrity match pitting Team Hamilton against Team Burlington getting things underway at 11 a.m.
Team Hamilton will include scoring machine Connor Murphy of the Junior B Caledonia Corvairs. He has 52 points (15-37) points in 24 games. Bolstering the Hamilton squad will be Brian Lewis, Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame committee, Greg Maychak, of the city’s Pan Am initiative, and members of the Junior A Hamilton Red Wings.
The two other games will pit the Ancaster Avalanche Junior B hockey team against the senior Intercounty Baseball League’s Burlington Bandits at 11:45 a.m. followed by the Hamilton High School All-Stars taking on their Burlington counterparts at 12.30 p.m.
Games will be held at the parking lot adjacent to Williams Fresh Café on Discovery Drive.
This year marks the fourth annual RBC Sports Day in Canada. It is presented by ParticipACTION, CBC, and True Sport, in communities from coast to coast. This national celebration of sport, from grassroots to high-performance, is an opportunity for all Canadians to celebrate the power of sport, build community and national spirit and facilitate healthy, active living.
