While the dust has just settled on the completion of the 2013 season, the Hamilton Minor Football Association has already started making plans for the 2014 campaign.
And those plans include a parents wrap-up meeting set for Dec. 10 in the auditorium of The Hamilton Spectator on Frid Street.
The meeting will start at 7 p.m., and all parents and supporters of the league are invited to review the past season and offer input into the upcoming year. For more information, contact HMFA director of coaching and player development, Paul Micieli at email@example.com.
Stoney Creek is represented by the Stoney Creek Bombers, winners of the bantam and peewee titles in the Ontario Varsity Football League Minor Development division this past season; Hamilton Mountain is represented by the East Mountain Lions, whose atoms won their OVFL Minor Development division; the West Mountain Riders; the Westdale Eskimos; and the East Hamilton Stampeders.
A number of openings for head coaching jobs in the league are available for the new term. Micieli aims to have all coaches – rep teams and house league teams – in place by the end of December. Additional coaching information can be found at the league’s website (www.hmfa.ca) to inquire about coaching positions and to register.
New for the 2014 season will be a Parents/Managers Committee. This group will encourage volunteering throughout the season, help the league executive with its marketing and recruiting functions, assist on game days, and spearhead new initiatives.
Micieli said the purpose of the new group, along with the Football Hamilton Coaches Association, is to “make the changes together to improve the experience for the kids and make the future bright for the HMFA.”
