Two-goal nights by Joe Koudys, Ryan Christie, and Justin Davis propelled Dundas past the Whitby Dunlops and into a second-place tie in Allan Cup Hockey as the Real McCoys trounced Whitby, 8-3, Friday night (Dec. 20).
Koudys goal at 1:47 of the first period triggered an avalanche of almost a thousand teddy bears of all shapes and sizes as the Real McCoys held Scotiabank Teddy Bear Toss Night in the JL Grightmire Arena. The Teddy Bear Toss supports the AM900 CHML Children’s Fund and the Operation Santa Claus Toy Drive.
The annual Salvation Army Food Drive continues throughout the month of December. Donation barrels are situated in the lobby of the arena on game nights.
Koudys also had two assists with Cam Watson adding a goal and two helpers. Davis had one assist. Jeff White completed the scoring with a single goal. Scott Mifsud set up two Dundas scoring plays.
Patrick Jobb replied for Whitby with a goal and an assist with single markers going to Dylan O’Neil and Shane Terry. Jay Meloff assisted on two of the Whitby goals.
