Despite rallying from two sets down, the Mohawk men’s volleyball team had to settle for a runner-up finish at the Alden Cup Tournament in St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida. The Mountaineers dropped a 3-2 decision to the Sheridan Bruins on Saturday (Jan. 4). The scores were 18-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 13-15.
Mohawk had won its first two matches on their trip.
“Our team needs to play with integrity every match which we lacked tonight,” said Mountaineers’ head coach Matt Schnarr.
Isaac Cook had seven kills, five stuff blocks and two service aces for Mohawk. Eric Danecke made eight kills, had three blocks and two aces, while Cory Hansen had five kills.
Humber won the tournament ahead of Mohawk and Sheridan wound up third.
